What is a Deck?
Deck Maintenance
A custom deck is a great addition to any home, providing extra space for entertaining, relaxing, and enjoying the outdoors. However, decks require regular maintenance to stay in good condition. Here are some tips for keeping your deck in tip-top shape:
- Inspect your deck regularly for signs of wear and tear, such as cracked or splintered boards. Repair any damage promptly to prevent further deterioration.
- Sweep your deck regularly to remove dirt, leaves, and other debris. If you have a power washer, you can use it to clean your deck once or twice a year. Be sure to use a gentle setting and hold the wand at least 12 inches from the surface of the wood.
- Apply a fresh coat of sealer or stain every one to two years. This will help protect the wood from moisture and UV damage.
- Store any outdoor materials, such as grills, gardening supplies, and pool toys, in a shed or garage when not in use. This will help keep your deck looking neat and tidy.
